Our Story

 

At Prose Coffee Company, we believe that great coffee should be an everyday experience. Founded by Sharon McGee, a coffee nerd with over 20 years of experience in the coffee industry, along with her husband who is a military veteran. Our roastery is built on the belief that every cup tells a story.

Before starting this venture, Sharon spent years navigating the unique challenges of military life as a “trailing spouse.” During those years of change and transition, coffee became more than just a drink—it was a constant. It was a familiar ritual that provided comfort, a way to connect with new people, and a means to share stories and experiences along the way.

With a background that spans everything from barista work to coffee roasting, Sharon has spent over two decades learning what makes a great cup of coffee. This hands-on experience shapes every batch roasted. Throughout this journey, we have learned that great coffee comes not only from the quality of beans, but from the people who grow, harvest, and roast them. That’s why we focus on the things that matter: sourcing beans ethically, supporting sustainable farming practices, and forming relationships with coffee farmers around the world.
